I declare this past week the week of the drabble! Somehow I learned how to write perfect 100-word drabbles, so I wrote a bunch of them over on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic! Here are the ones I like best:

Retirement (Batman Beyond) (Prompt by [livejournal.com profile] reeby10)
Waking Up to Fireworks (Phineas and Ferb) (Prompt by [livejournal.com profile] leni_ba)
Take Me With You! (Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro) (Prompt by [livejournal.com profile] creepy_shetan)

I feel very happy about this. There are so many promising [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic prompts, but I often struggle to write something for them. Now that I know how to write drabbles, though, I can fill a prompt or two a day pretty easily. (Of course, this depends on how annoying other people think it is. I know drabbles aren't everyone's cup of tea, and I'd rather not do this if it bugs people. But we'll see.)

This week on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic had two days themed around short fills, so I could actually get around to some of them on time! (I'm a really slow writer, guys.)

Monday's theme was 1 Sentence, and I did around (quick count here) 10 of them, which isn't a bad number at all. Some of the ones I'm most proud of:

Justice League Cartoon, Justice League, affection
Batman: TAS, Harley Quinn/Bruce Wayne, elephant
DCU (any), any Rogue, Get Out of Jail Free card (Filled with Gorilla Grodd.)
any. any/any. is this a date? (Filled with Steven Universe, Pearl/MAY-OR DEW-EY.) (am I going to ship-jail now?)
DCU, Harley Quinn/+any, brainy

Then, Tuesday's theme was 10 Words. I did waaay less fills for this one; apparently I don't do as well with a stricter word limit. Here are two I like in particular:

DCU, any, night sky
Any, Any, secret ambitions (Filled with Aspel.)

I was also working on a longer work this week, but I wasn't feeling it, so I shelved it; I can always come back to it later, right? Many thanks to the people at [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic for their prompts and fills this week!

This past week at [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic was Lonely Prompts Week, where everybody pitches in to complete unfilled prompts left in previous weeks/months/years/etc. I only completed one fic, but I still had a lot of fun. Here's what I wrote:

A Peek Behind the Mask: BTAS, Harley/Batman. Harley Quinn wants to know just what's behind Batman's mask. I am quite pleased that I managed an exactly 100-word drabble here.

I also wrote a fic for Free-For-All Saturday!

Planet Break: Steven Universe, Peridot. Peridot's mission didn't quite go as planned. This was supposed to be a drabble, too, but I ended up about 30 words over the limit. Oh well! (Note: Contains spoilers for the episode Jail Break.)

That's about all I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic! If you want to check out my other projects last week, you'll have to wait until Wednesday. (Oo mysterious.)

It was another July scorcher down in Free Country, USA. Strong Bad and The Cheat had commandeered Strong Sad’s Easy-To-Go-Tent, and were now using it for shade.

“I dunno, The Cheat,” said Strong Bad as he cracked open a Cold One, “how are we gonna pull a caper on Homestar? I mean we’ve tried everything! Fire, gasoline, rotten eggs, spoiled milk, day-old hamburger, the ol’ ‘tuna fish daily special’, more fire… We could fill a whole novel with all our attempts to prank the crap outta that guy! But nothing phases him.”

The Cheat groaned.

“Yeah, I don’t think we’ll ever get Homestar if we put a crack team of scientists-slash-detectives-slash-reporters on the case.”

“Hey guys, you talking ‘bout me?” asked Homestar, peeping his head in the tent.

“Go away, Homestar! It’s none of your business.”

“Well why’d you guys say my name a whole bunch if it’s none of my concern? What, you think a guy can’t come into his own conversation?”

“It’s not your conversation, we’re just talking about you!”

“Oh, so that’s how you gonna play me, is it?” sobbed Homestar. “Well, fine! I never realized before how selfish you guys are! Selfish, selfish selfish!” He ran away from the tent in tears.

“Whoa!” said Strong Bad. “I’m willing to call that a win if you are!” The Cheat agreed.

(A [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic fill. Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] leni_ba for the original prompt.)
