Due to difficulties in getting my get-up and go into gear, the XYZZY Catch-Up review for Friday has been delayed to Saturday, or possibly Sunday. In the meantime, why not take a look at this video to help you calm down?

What with the IF Comp being over and us moving into December pretty quickly, I figured it was time to change the theme on my blog. So say hello to the Holiday Stripes Blue theme! It's generic enough to keep through January, which is probably what I'll do with it.

Anyway, speaking of the IF Comp, they posted the results on Monday. There were quite a few surprises, and I was a little surprised that Birdland, which was my pick to win the Comp, didn't even make it into the top 3. Also, I really need to play Map. And Cape. And Sub Rosa. And Ether. And a whole bunch of other titles off that list.

Also, there's going to be a chat about the Comp (probably at this new-fangled chat-site over here) at 3 PM Eastern on Saturday or Sunday (the date hasn't been finalized yet). I hope to see at least some of you there!

So, as you may have already noticed, I decided to change up the theme on my blog, in honor of Spooktober! I've also got a new userpic to celebrate the occasion! Look forward to Spoopy the Freaked-Out Anime Lady in reviews of IF Comp games to come, possibly when a game gets really scary (or possibly just if a game is really bad).

(Also! Speaking of Spooktober, I just realized I should update my Trick Or Treat letter, since a major thing has happened in one of the canons since. BRB!)

Have a happy October, folks!

As I posted at the beginning of September, last month I tried to write at least one post here per day. And, despite a few snags here and there, it was a resounding success! The biggest problem I faced was getting the entries done early enough; many a time I had to write something quick at 11:00. (This was particularly a problem with the Writer's Block entries, which use UTC instead of the local time. That's why there are a couple dates with either no entry or two.) I really hope to work on that the next time I do this.

In the meantime, IF Comp games are out! There's 55 games this year, whoa! Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I'll try to review at least one IF Comp game, from now until Noember 15th, which is when the judging period ends. Look forward to it!

Hey, there! Sorry I've left this blog unattended so long. Life (and laziness) just kind of got in the way.

This month, though, I'm going to try to make up by posting at least one entry per day. They might be responses to the Writer's Block feature we have here, they might be catch-up on some of the regular features I've skipped, they could be video game reviews, they could even be links to something I found interesting. I'm trying not to push myself into writing long blog posts, because I often get stuck on those for days and hold everything up. But I will try to post something of substance every once in a while.

Look forward to it!

Just a quick update: Shufflecomp games have been released! You can play a good amount of them online, and Gargoyle should take care of the rest. Which game did I submit? Not telling! (It's supposed to be a secret, you see.) But I will be reviewing some of these games shortly, maybe even starting today. Because of the unusual voting structure of the competition, where both negative and positive reviews count as a "yes" vote, the positive reviews will be posted publicly while the negative ones will be friend-locked. After the competition is over, I'll de-lock the negative reviews so that everyone can see them. I hope that's satisfactory to everyone. Until next time!

So I finally finished my Shufflecomp entry! While there's still some stuff I would love to add to it, I'm happy with how it is now. All there is to do now is just wait until the rest of the games get sorted (I was late and had to ask for an extension, so I'm sure there are others in the same boat).

In the meantime, I'm going to have to ease back into posting here again. I haven't even started my [livejournal.com profile] intoabar assignment, so maybe I'll start with that. And I should probably get around to doing that Kino's Journey thing I promised to do. Until next time, peeps!

I need to put some hustle in my Shufflecomp game, and that means taking some time off from here. That means putting a hold on Currently Reading Wednesday and other blog entries. Don't worry, I'll still check in from time to time, but it likely won't be as frequent. This should stop around May 6th, when the final versions of Shufflecomp games are due. Until then, goodbye, folks!

I updated my laptop yesterday (Windows Vista, in case you wanna know), and now it's acting up in the strangest ways. When I booted up today, the standard Aero theme was gone, replaced by the Windows theme from '98. (Here's a good example of what I'm talking about. There was also a message about non-admin users not being able to log-in, but I didn't catch all of it.) I tried to fix it in the personalization menu, but, well, the Aero theme wasn't loading properly there, either. I think I may be using up too much memory on this machine for Aero to load, as sites are loading kinda slowly too. I'll shut it down tonight and boot it up again tomorrow and see if it fixes itself in the morning; if that doesn't do it, I've got a diagnostic test that a friend showed me that I can run, and if that doesn't turn up a solution, we'll see how it goes.

In the meantime, this unfortunate turn of events has caused me to delay Currently Reading Wednesdays to Thursday. Don't worry, folks, I got a real doozy of a post planned for you guys. Also, because of this, my computer may be in the shop for a while (perhaps a month), so my internet presence here and elsewhere may drop off suddenly. Thank you, and have a great rest of the week.

I regret to inform you all that Currently Reading Wednesdays, our weekly book review feature, has once again been postponed to Friday. To make up for it I will be reviewing three things by then, as usual. In the meantime, you might want to try one of the following things:

Try my new Knytt Stories level, House Key
Try the selection of games on nitku's Hugo Online Interpreter
Watch one of my favorite ASMR videos
Check out the meme-game-thing in this post, which is still ongoing
All of (or none of) the above

Due to some difficulties getting my pep in gear, my weekly feature Currently Reading Wednesdays is being postponed to this Friday. Fortunately, I plan to make up for my lateness by reviewing not one, not two, but three different books! One of them is the book about adventure games I mentioned last time, but the other two are a mystery. In the meantime, you can watch this video:

(I've watched this so many times today, you have no idea.)
