You might be wondering why I haven't written that Alice Saturdays post like I promised. The truth is, I spent the whole of Monday playing Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea (link here), and the whole of today working on a new Knytt Stories level, which should be out this week if nothing goes wrong. Anyway, to make up for it, I'm going to post Currently Reading Wednesdays early (i.e., on time) and tell you some more about Wadanohara.
Wadanohara is a pretty weird game, neither fish nor fowl: it's not really committed to being an RPG, because the fights are all so easy you'll never have a moment of challenge in the game, but it's not quite an adventure game either, because there's not many puzzles to speak of. It's not quite a carefree adventure with charming characters and it's not quite... well, to say more would be spoilery. (Although the content warnings give it away a little.)
Honestly, I think I ruined the experience by playing so much at once, because the game can get pretty repetitive at times. As it is, I started to resent the battles a little, and the ellipses filled text boxes a lot. I swear, if I never see another text box filled with ellipses again, it will be too soon.
Anyway, would I recommend that you play Wadanohara? Probably not. Along with the repetitiveness there's some pretty disturbing content (be sure to check the content warnings if you're triggered by anything), and I wouldn't want to play it again. Nice music, though.
Anyway, that's all for today! Have a great day, and if I don't update this blog by Friday, assume my computer has exploded. See ya!
